Newman News
Parking Lot Changes Coming
In order to help simplify and make our parking lot and driveways more safe, the school community council has received permission to have the west end of the parking lot blocked off in the near future. This will require anyone entering the parking lot to also exit on the east end. A map and more information will be sent home as we get closer to the change.
ELP Magnet Program
Parents interested in having their students considered for full-time placement in a magnet ELP (gifted education) program in the district may call 578-8573 for more information.
Newman Science Fair
Newman’s 5th and 6th graders presented their science fair projects to the judges on February 19. There were a lot of great projects and we congratulate the students on their good works and knowledge gained about the scientific process. Ten students emerged as winners of the Newman fair: Austin Butcher, Kate Smith, Michael Spencer, Kate Tanner, Mary Helms, Annalyssia Wyckoff, Lejla Subasic, Joey Garrison, Chandler Stepan, and Charlee Sabrowski . They represented our school at the Salt Lake District Science Fair at which the following students eared recognition- Lejla Subasic- 1st Place Chemistry, Annalyssia Wyckoff- 2nd Place Chemistry, Michael Spencer- 4th Place Environmental Sciences & Roots and Shoots, Mary Helms- Root and Shoots.
Spring Sing/Family Arts Night
The students will present a musical program and visual arts projects on Wednesday, March 19, at 6:00 p.m. Families are invited to came and hear the performances and view the students’ art work.
Spring Beak Information
Thursday, March 20 is a short day. School ends at 12:40 p.m. and there is no After-School Program that day. Spring Recess will be from Friday, March 21-Friday, March 28. The school will be closed those days. Classes resume on Monday, March 31.
