Newman Family Science Night
Come join us for a fun evening learning more about the science concepts your children have been learning. The activities are fun and educational. Your students will enjoy explaining things to you! The event is on Wednesday, November 7, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Please come.
Picture Makeup Day
Students will have an opportunity to have their picture taken, or retaken if you are not satisfied with the original picture, on Tuesday, November 13. Please look for the flyer announcing the event.
Flu Shot and Immunization Clinic
Parents, students and community members are invited to get their flu and other immunization shots at Newman School on Wednesday, November 14 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. The cost per flu shot is only $10.00. Other immunizations vary in price. Checks may be made out to SLCSD.

Schedule for Thanksgiving Recess
The day before Thanksgiving- Wednesday, Nov. 21- is a short day. The school will be closed from Thursday, Nov. 22 through Monday, Nov. 26. Classes will resume on Tuesday, Nov. 27.
A Note from the Library
A great big thank-you to everyone that helped and participated in this Fall’s ‘Book Fair Blizzard’. We met our goal, and were able to earn 344 new books for our library. We really appreciate all the support that our students and families give our library.

Next Friday, November 9th, we are privileged to host author Trudy Harris. Mrs. Harris is the author of many educational books that deal with math concepts and writing concepts. Mrs. Harris will present an assembly for the lower and upper grades, focusing on the writing process and publishing writing. She will also sign her books that we have purchased for the library. If you are interested in purchasing your own copy of her book(s), you will have the opportunity to buy them on Friday and have them signed by her personally.
Mrs. Harris is visiting our school as a kick off to celebrate National Children’s Book Week. Book Week is November 12th-16th. The theme is “Rise Up Reading!” The purpose of celebrating Book Week is to remind students how important reading is. More to come next week!
PTA News
Thank you to everyone who participated in our PTA’s Reader’s Digest Fundraiser. The ordered items are scheduled to arrive by November 15th.
