Information Items

1. The annual leaf bag distribution will be made during the week of October 15-19.  Leaf bag pickups will be Nov. 5-Nov. 8; Nov. 28-Dec. 4; and Dec. 17-Dec. 20.  Christmas tree pickup will be Jan 14-17.

2. All residents will soon receive in the mail a brochure that will offer a new brown waste can in which leaves, limbs, ect. should be placed.  The pickup of these cans will be from March to November.  The cost will be $3.50 per month for twelve months.  At the same time you will be given a choice of downsizing your green garbage cans and even eliminating one if you presently have two.

3. If you see any potholes please call 535-6903 to report them.

4. The Council officers wish to thank those who take care of their parking strips.  Brown ones and weedy ones distract from the beauty of our overall appearance in Rose Park.  Be proud of our area and do everything you can to make it a beautiful place in which to live and be proud of.

5. LeslieReynolds-Benz, chair of Westpoint CC, is conducting a campaign entitled “Lift Us Up–Don’t Throw it Down”. She personally picks up garbage when she walks and has presented the idea to the SLC School Board.  She has secured support from two LDS Stake Presidents in Keeping Redwood Road picked up.  She says that cleaning up her area has reduced crime about 50%, and she wants all Community Councils to support her.

6. Concern has been expressed by the City Forester that tree leaves all over the city are turning brown because of the lack of water.  He is asking that residents deep water their trees more.

7. Crime report for August read: 2 agg. assaults, 1 arson, 19 auto thefts, 7 burglaries, 11 car prowls, 1 car strip, 7 gang related, 4 robberies, and 2 sexual assaults.  The total for our area was 54 out of a citywide 846 crimes.  This was 8th place out of 15 large council areas

8. Election Day is November 6th
