The cost will be $3.50 per month for twelve months. At the same time you will be given a choice of downsizing your green garbage cans and even eliminating one if you presently have two.
3. If you see any potholes please call 535-6903 to report them.

5. LeslieReynolds-Benz, chair of Westpoint CC, is conducting a campaign entitled “Lift Us Up–Don’t Throw it Down”. She personally picks up garbage when she walks and has presented the idea to the SLC School Board. She has secured support from two LDS Stake Presidents in Keeping Redwood Road picked up. She says that cleaning up her area has reduced crime about 50%, and she wants all Community Councils to support her.
6. Concern has been expressed by the City Forester that tree leaves all over the city are turning brown because of the lack of water. He is asking that residents deep water their trees more.

Public Lecture Featuring Environmental Author, Swimmer Akiko Busch
September 24, 2007 by Baker.
On Wednesday September 26, 2007, environmental writer and amateur swimmer Akiko Busch, author of Nine Ways to Cross A River, will speak about her personal experiences with notable American rivers and the dynamics of creating relationships with natural waterways.
Combining a journalist’s eye, a naturalist’s passion, and a swimmer’s stamina, Akiko visits rivers, meets with their protectors, and documents ongoing threats to their existence.
Busch writes, “Intimacy with the river, like other kinds of intimacy, is laced with ambiguity, with questions of ownership elusive and variable. And it becomes an easy thing to imagine yourself a particle in the river’s continuity.”
The Salt Lake City lecture is the last event in a series of lectures, workshops, and community swims throughout the Great Salt Lake watershed region featuring Akiko Busch as part of Great Salt Lakekeeper’s Swimmable Waters Campaign. Busch hopes, through her public swims and lectures, to immerse others in grassroots efforts to promote swimmable waterways locally and across the nation.
Akiko Busch’s lecture will be broadcast live at 7:00pm on KCPW Public Radio (88.3FM, 105.3FM, 1010AM).
On A Clear Day, a film about swimming across the English Channel, will precede the lecture at 4:00pm.
Akiko will sign copies of her new publication, Nine Ways To Cross A River, available for sale at the event.

Charging Limits for Paid School Meals
We have an agreement with our lunch room that students who pay for their school meals may charge up to two breakfasts and two lunches if they run out of money in their account. They will receive a reminder when this happens so they can bring money to put their account. They will not be permitted to get a meal beyond this charge limit but can receive a milk and a fruit to tide them over for the afternoon.
School Community Council
The next meeting of the School Community Council will be on Monday, October 1 at 4:00 p.m. in the library. We invite interested parents to attend. The council discusses issues related to student and school success and provides guidance for what happens at Newman Elementary School.
